When I was eight, my father played Rabbi Menasha Levartov in Spielberg's war epic ‐ 'Schindler's list'. The behind the scenes footage he brought with him from the set sparked my interest in filmmaking. Soon I would dream of making films of my own, writing scripts on an old typewriter and making my first attempts at realising them cinematically.

I would experiment with my father's old Canon film camera, playing with different types of film, in different conditions of light. Films naturally felt like the clearest way of expressing my ideas and as the years followed, I considered every school assignment as potential practice for making videos.

As a child and adolescent I began experiencing production sets firsthand, acting and dubbing on TV shows. My love for the performing arts blossomed into a lifelong relationship with music and theatre.

In theater, I wrote and performed live music for dozens of productions, and won awards more than once. Though I recorded soundtracks as well, I would make it a point to play on stage whenever I could. After all, musicians and actors that sync up and take cues from each other elevate every performance. This understanding of the power of live shows would later translate directly to video and the dynamic relationship between the camera man and the performers.

Meanwhile, as a solo artist and a band leader, I went on tour with my own music, recording an EP and a full length album, as well as multiple music videos. This experience allowed me to know the logistic, social and emotional challenges that face musicians and bands.

Throughout those times my love for cinema remained strong, manifesting through still photography. I’d take every opportunity to observe and document beauty and inspiration, scenes and people.

This varied experience with photography, acting, writing, performing, recording, and managing large team based projects was the basis for the triumphant resurgence of my oldest, most faithful love - cinema and video. This eclectic background has given me a powerful perspective into narrative, pacing, framing, sound and more. To me, a score and a frame are both compositions - both evoking an emotive interplay of light and dark.

My first gigs were photographing shows. Having been in their place, I knew how to capture the spirit of a live performance. Soon enough I began writing, producing and directing music videos for different artists while branching out into commercials and documentaries. Though nowadays film is both my passion and my professional calling, I still approach it with the same sense of wonder and discovery I had as a child, playing around with my father’s camera, transforming rays of light into unique moments.
